Langlade Memorial Hospital and The Community Health Foundation believe that the Radiation Care Center is an outstanding solution to address our current need for comprehensive cancer care and services. The Community Health Foundation has accepted the responsibility to lead a capital campaign to raise $1.3 million toward the building project. Successful completion of the Radiation Care Center will enhance patient care and serve the needs of the community for years to come. The planned project demonstrates a further investment in the future of the community and its people.

The Community Health Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1979 by Langlade Memorial Hospital. Its mission is to identify needs, raise funds, and award grants to advance health care in Antigo and neighboring communities served by Langlade Memorial Hospital. It helps to provide for the healthcare needs of the community through financial and educational support.

The Foundation represents the community served by the Hospital. The residents of Langlade County and portions of Forest, Shawano, Marathon, Lincoln, Menominee, Oconto and Oneida counties have all benefited from the Foundation’s work. The Foundation helps people make a personal connection to the Hospital’s efforts to address community needs for quality healthcare in an ever-expanding field of medical technology and practice. It also helps to build partnerships in the greater community.

For more than 27 years, the Foundation Board and its volunteers have worked in cooperation with healthcare providers to support the health needs of our community. With the leadership and support of The Community Health Foundation and its generous donors, these landmark projects have been realized to date:

  • Lifeline program
  • Ambulance communication systems
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training
  • Cancer Center furnishings & equipment
  • Community education
  • Code carts
  • Automatic External Defibrillators in key community locations
  • Various renovations and upgrades at Langlade Memorial Hospital

These and other initiatives leave no doubt that The Community Health Foundation has touched countless lives for nearly three decades. As it launches the Hope and Healing Closer to Home campaign to raise $1.3 million toward the completion of the Radiation Care Center, the Foundation continues its tradition of support for the Hospital and the people it serves.

“My family has been greatly affected by cancer.  Ten years ago, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer of which she received her chemotherapy and radiation treatments in Wausau, WI.  The drives for the treatments took many hours but my family managed.

This past winter, my father was diagnosed with small cell lung carcinoma.

With balancing a full-time job and a mother with a debilitating illness, I was relieved when we were told that dad's treatments could take place in Antigo.  The excellent doctors and staff at the oncology unit are a blessing to our community.  I am sure that having a radiation center in Antigo will be a huge benefit to the working families who are supporting their loved ones through a devastating illness.”

The campaign to create the Radiation Care Center and expand Langlade Memorial Hospital’s cancer care and treatment services is a community effort. The Hospital needs the continuing support and participation of the community it serves – the community that has demonstrated repeatedly that it believes in the importance of quality healthcare close to home. Hope and Healing Closer to Home is not simply a concept. At Langlade Memorial Hospital, it is a reality with more than 70 years of continuing tradition.

The campaign to create the Radiation Care Center will be a grassroots effort that engages people of all levels of experience from the entire geographic area. The Community Health Foundation will assume responsibility for the campaign but it will be led by volunteers from every walk of life.

It is the vision of The Community Health Foundation to ensure that the healthcare needs of the community are met for years to come so that its citizens can attain a high quality of life. The Foundation and its volunteers are committed to the community and dedicated to helping provide quality healthcare close to home.  We need your help to make that happen. We invite your participation in this worthy endeavor. We encourage you to invest in the realization of a medical care center that will benefit you, your family, your neighbors, your employees – the whole community – now and in the future. This is an opportunity to contribute to a cause that will provide a professional and economic return. All the money raised will stay in the community and will be used to serve the community for years to come. The current project will take the Hospital, the Foundation and the community into the next decades of an established partnership of commitment, service and caring. It will provide Hope and Healing Closer to Home for the benefit of all.
